Stampin Up! A game the whole family can play

Just sharing a quick post – my daughter is doing a hospitality management degree at Oxford Brooke’s and their final year assessment piece is to organise and plan and run an event. Her and her colleagues have chosen an “out of Africa” theme and took over my craft room this evening to make some cute little mini suitcase luggage table names, boarding card style place settings, African themed menus, and some little elephant confetti

They have worked hard all evening – and used probably everything in my stash to get the look they needed

The event is next week and I am really looking forward to attending

Lots of love

Bravo! for Irresistibly Yours Designer Scrapbook Paper from Stampin’ Up!

Irresistibly Yours Stampin UP

I just love the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Paper, its free with a £45+ stampin up order and is a nice firm card with a glossy white patter perfect for colouring – either with sprays, or sponges, markers or ink pads,  the embossing resists the colour and you are left with beautifully unique coloured card to make whatever you like with.

I sponged the card with Melon Mambo and Tempting Turqouise to make a marbled two tone purple colour and then using the envelope punch board made a box for a present.

bravo stamp tag

The tag I made using the Bravo stamp set.  I took a piece of velum 2 inches x 4.5 inches and using my Blendabilities markers (melon mambo and bermuda bay) I coloured it in, using the colour lifter pen to blend.  Once it was dry I stamped the sentiment in Black Stazon.  the ribbon started out as Whisper White, but I used the blendabilities and a spritz of rubbing alcohol and left to dry.

I love that Stampin up have over 50 standard coordinating colours, but that you can make your own by a little blending.

My friend Darla Roberts (a SU demo from the US) has asked me to take part in her blog hop with the following questions

1. What are you working on now?

I am getting ready for a couple of card classes and also preparing projects for a great getaway day I am doing at the end of the month for a group of SU demos from Kent.

2. How does your work differ from others in your genre?

As a SU demo we all start with the same products, but the looks that everyone comes up with are so different, I like a bit of vintage mixed in with brights and subtle colours.  Whatever I do I try to do with love, love for the products, love for the recipients and a love of creating something that means something
3. Why do you create what you do?

I think of it as a way of leaving a legacy.  I cant leave cash, but I can make a difference one card at a time.
4. How does your creative process work?

I usually start with the person I am making for, or the celebration or thing I am trying to celebrate, and then just let myself run amok in my craft room until something pops in my head.  I usually have an idea of the stamp set, or colours I want to use, and the rest just comes as and when!

Thats it from me – another action packed week I am afraid – but hopefully I will find some time to craft x

Be a smartie… book a party

thank you stampin up cards

I just love the big thank you stamp from Another Thank you.  And I love that Stampin’ Up produce such great coordinating colours of cards, ribbons, inks and embellishments, but most of all I LOVE THAT SMARTIES are the same colours.

I stamped the big Thank you Stamp on to whisper white cardstock cut at 10cm x 14.5 cm in the colour of the smarties, Wisteria Wonder in this case to match the lilac coloured smarties.  I then punched out a little butterfly using my punch and mounted it on a layer of Wisteria Wonder cardstock cut to 10.5 cm x 15cm.  The little tag is stamped with an image from Better than Email stamp set (which sadly isnt available in the UK, but a lovely demonstrator friend in the US gave me as a gift when I was in Orlando last month).  Then I added 15 smarties (maybe with one or two making it to my mouth) to the cute cellophane bags we have which are just 1 inch (2.5cm) wide by 8cm long and a perfect fit.  Such good value too – you get 50 of them for just £2.25.  A little petite punched out flower, a bit of ribbon, and these thank you cards are just ready to go.  If you would like to buy some just click on the link below

button

So who am I giving such lovely thank you cards to?  Well my customers that’s who.  i do like to treat them with the odd little something chocolatey to say thank you for their business.  These are for a party I had on Friday night with the lovely Claire and her friends.  Claire was very happy with her night, and earned loads of hostess benefits for herself, and has now been able to get everything she wanted from her wish list.  I have some free dates in March – and with an extra incentive of saleabration and free products for anyone spending £45 what better time to do it.

And if you would like to become a stampin’ up demonstrator we have another amazing deal on at the moment.  Pay £99 and get £130 worth of product of your choice for your starter kit, and two free gifts from the saleabration catalogue!

Hope to see you on my blog again soon.

Feathered Valentines Day Card For Men

As an Independent Stampin Up! UK demonstrator we get to play with all sorts of fun products, including some lovely Pink and Red Valentines papers.  Which is lovely if you are in to making Pink and Red Valentines day cards, but what to do for the man in your life that isn’t overly girly… whilst still being a little bit romantic and slushy.  Well that’s the joy of having so many coordinating inks and papers and ribbons – we have something for everyone, and I came up with this card, (Mr Craftyhallett Look away now)….

washi tape feathers

I used the fabulous Irresistibly Yours Designer Paper which is free at the moment, when you spend £45 or more on an order.  I inked it up with Sahara Sand ink, and it resists it beautifully.  A quick wipe with a tissue, and then a few splats of gold ink using the old favourite Gorgeous Grunge stamp set completed the base layer which I stitched using the sewing machine to a mat of Chocolate Chip.  The sahara sand  lace is so pretty I gathered it up under a layer of Soft Sky Satin Seam Binding, and then did a bit of fancy stitching with the sewing machine.  The Doillie also got some of the gorgeous grunge treatment.

The little bird is stamped on Sahara Sand and coloured using my blendabilities.  He is from the An Open Heart stamp set and is so pretty.

An open heart bird, twitterpaited

Some washi tape feathers were called for – three of them in muted crumb cake and Sahara sand colours tied with a little blue bow.

Fancy Stitching Seam Binding Ribbon

The sentiment is from the You and Me stamp set.

So there you have it – a valentines card doesn’t have to be pink or red, this is perfect for the men in your life, and just oozes romance and vintage lace

Hope you are having a good day.  And as a reminder we are half way through Saleabration – so if you want to indulge in some crafty purchases and get a free gift or two – check out the deals in my shop

Love Stampin’ Up! Simply Created Kits – Hello Life, Hello Valentines Day

Stampin' Up! Simply Created Kit

I love the kits that Stampin’ Up! have created for us in the Spring Summer Catalogue. – Click here to see the full range

This Project LIfe Kit called Hello Life, was intended as a “new baby” kit, but I reworked it to be a Valentines Week gift to my husband Dan, (Valentines week in our house as we are such a pair of softees we love this annual excuse to be all lovey dovey and a have a week of treats to each other planned – more on that anon).

The kit was simple to use, and I have plenty of bits left over to make some cards with too.  It was easy to make the pompoms and all the other little bits following the instructions in the kit.

I used some of my existing stamp sets and phrases from the So You Stamp set, but added some from a retired set as well, using craft white ink on the blackboard card.

It was so much fun to make and dead simple.  The frame its on comes with the kit, and measures a massive 43 x 35 cms so its going to look quite impressive on the wall in the love room.

Hope you are all having a good week.  Oh and CHECK OUT THE BARGAINS, – the magnetic platform for the big shot is reduced in the weekly deals, but you only have till next Tuesday to order… so what ya waiting for!

Stampin’ Up! Orlando Leadership

How very exciting – I am off to the good old USA to attend a Stampin’ Up Leadership Conference.

There are about 30 of us from Europe attending with around 1,000 from the US converging on Orlando, Florida for an action packed 3 day conference.  There will be lots to report afterwards I am sure, but you dont want to see that do you… you want to see the pretties… and heres some of the things I have made to take with me.

2015-01-25 14.24.20

This little gift is for my travel buddy Kim Fee who is coming with me, sharing the plane, hotel and I hope a whole load of laughs.  Not going to tell you what’s inside.  The box I made using the new FREE saleabration IRRESISTIBLY YOURS SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER  – this comes in white, and you can spray it, sponge it or brayer it with coloured inks to get it to any colour you like.  The quality of the card is so good, its a little thicker than our standard Whisper White Cardstock – and hardly paper at all.  I do hope this makes it to the Annual Catalogue as its such fun to work with.  You can get a pack for free when you shop with me between January and March 31st and spend over £45 on a single transaction.  Click the shop now link for more details.

I sprayed mine with Calypso Coral re-inker mixed with rubbing alcohol, sponged off the excess to reveal the white leaves, and then made a tag and some flowers to decorate.  The little fluffy balls twine is a favourite of mine and in the new spring summer catalogue.

What follows are some pictures of my swaps I have made to give to other demonstrators.

Inside out card with Stampin up Butterflies Framelits

Who said all the pretties had to be on the outside of the card?

I wanted to make a card that looked ordinary on the outside and had something amazing on the inside, just like the person it is intended for

2015/01/img_0295.jpg

The butterfly is cut out of Designer Scrapbook paper and then re-attached using dimensionals so that it pops out when you open the card. I stamped the sentiment in matching blackberry bliss ink and added a little ribbon and lace, and some sparkly diamonds

Hope my friend likes it as much as I do 🙂

Lots of love

Stampin Up Lotus Blossom Saleabration

This is one of the free stamp sets you can get during Saleabration when you spend £45

I made this pretty little card with it

2015/01/img_0297.jpg

It’s a really fun and easy way to stamp with three stage stamping using just one ink pad – and if course I had to have a play with loads more colours didn’t I? Would be rude not to given Stampin up have so many fun colours to play with so here’s what I did

2015/01/img_0306.jpg

It’s really rather fun, and slightly addictive, let me know if you want a video 🙂

Stampin Up Artisan Design Team – Painted Petals CASE

When I saw this set showcased on the Stampin up artisan design team blog I knew I wanted to CASE it, switched some of the colours and embellishments out but the ideas are basically the same – it’s so delicate and pretty and the stamp set is beautiful

2015/01/img_0921.jpg

It’s called Painted Petals and it’s in the new spring summer catalogue – click on the shop now link to buy – it’s £21.95 in photo polymer, and also available in cling mount and wood mount rubber too

Lots of love

Caroline

Artisan embellishment Kit

2015/01/img_0283.jpg

Stampin up do this great little kit which has pearls, buttons, three types of lovely trim, doilies and die cuts – and I used to to make this butterfly book and card using the butterfly basics stamp set, and the set – the butterfly bundle with the framelits is £36.25 and the Artisan Kit just £8.95 – which comes to £45.20 and allows you to qualify for one free item from Saleabration – result hey?

The kit is order number 137909 and the bundle is 138865 if you wanted to order now for home delivery

Flutterby Butterfly off to America You Shall Go

So I talked about cutting out over 100 of these little swallowtail framelit butterflies yesterday – here’s what they were for.

Shhhh dont tell anyone but I am going to Stampin up! Leadership in Orlando in less than 3 weeks time – I am so excited.

These are the swaps I have made for one part of the little holiday.  (Dont worry I will be sharing a day by day account of leadership on my blog nearer the time)!

in the meantime here are the pretties – the base layer is a third of a piece of A4, and each butterfly is over 3 inches wide so I decided to go tall and skinny for this card front

leadership swaps, butterflies, stampin up

Such fun…and see you tomorrow for yes you guessed it – more butterflies 🙂  My friend will be so pleased..

Swallowtail Stamp from Stampin’ Up! has a New Framelit Friend!

What do you recon?  I combined the Swallowtail Stamp (a returning favourite HUGE stamp from the Annual catalogue – and the reason I joined Stampin up!) with the new Butterfly Framelits die and I got this

swallowtail, butterfly framelits, stampin up

I stamped the Swallowtail in Crumb Cake twice on to a piece of naturals white cardstock.  The first one became the card base, mounted on a mat and layer of Hello Honey Cardstock.  The second I cut with the largest framelit die in the new butterfly framelits set from Stampin Up! and layered this on top with a stampin’ dimensional.  The patterns on the card base are from the new stamp set Butterfly Basics in crumb cake and hello honey.   A little antique lace trim, and a piece of hello honey ribbon were secured using the cute little Stampin Up! Stapler and the sentiment is stamped in Black Stazon.

Its a really effective but quite simple to make card, and so much fun.  I used waxed paper to cut out the die cut as its fairly intricate and it slipped out of the die a treat… which was good as you should come back tomorrow and see why I chose to cut out over 100 of the little blighters.  One of my lovely SU demo buddies really doesnt like the “freaky butterfly” so I almost decided to have a butterfly week and name it in her honour, but I think I will spare her blushes for now….

If you would like more details on the products used, clicky click click on the little pictures below.  And please dont forget if you want to order the stamp set and framelits buy the bundle and save 15%, and also if your spend is near £40 make sure it goes over £45 before postage and you qualify for a free saleabration item too – I would hate for you to miss out!

Christmas place settings

On Wednesday I cooked Christmas lunch for our staff team from the day job. 16 hungry mouths waiting for Turkey and all the trimmings.

It was time for crafty Hallett to turn into Chefy Hallett – which was one of my jobs in a previous life, so all good fun, but I couldn’t resist a little crafty Hallett creeping in …..

IMG_0188.JPG

I printed the names off on the computer and then mounted them on a small tent fold of green card after I had made little tags of them using the scallop tag topper punch (still my fave from last years catalogue) and then a little twine and a jingle bell and we were good to go.

And the team were happy with the food – I did the main course and my colleague Jo did the desserts yum yum

Then Tracy had made two card projects for us using new stamps from the forthcoming Saleabration Promotion in January. I love the Congrats stamp it’s so pretty.

IMG_0174.JPG

The island indigo flower just pops against whisper white, a simple card but so effective.

Next up was my project which is the desk organiser I blogged on Monday. Here’s the pictures of the ones Elaine and Tracy did

Cath Kidston Inspired Boxes – using stampin up supplies

My very clever friend makes these beautiful hand warmers filled with lavender. They are made with Cath Kidston fabrics, and are just beautiful. They needed a beautiful box to match.

Now to make the box I wanted to use the Gift Board punch board, but there wasn’t a box the size I wanted. So I used my magic numbers spreadsheet which is downloadable from this site, and worked out the size 9cm x 9 cm by 5 cm and got the measurements to make the box on the envelope punch board. I then used the gift board punch board to put the diagonal score lines in place and to punch the top so it went together just like the Gift box board boxes – sneaky huh? The box was made from pistachio pudding cardstock

Then I used the stippled blossoms stamp set with pink pirouette and rose red inks to stamp the flowers, with old olive and pear pizzazz inks for the leaves

IMG_0155.JPG

A little seam binding ribbon completes the look. I did two colour variants in pink and lilac so that they matched the hand warmer inside.

Such fun, I shall be using this technique again, and my board got double duty, and am so pleased I can now create boxes any size I like, not just the pre-sets on the board 🙂

Hope you are having a good day. I am cooking Christmas lunch today for 16 of my work colleagues including the boss …. No pressure …. Should be fun 🙂

Stampin’ Up! UK Christmas Table

if you follow my Facebook page you will have seen this project.  It was inspired by my friend Lisa Cornwall’s amazing table she did at European Convention in October –for details of her’s please see her blog

2014-11-23 19.43.29

I adapted my design to change the boxes, only have 4 candles, and make room for a box to hide the battery box for some fairy lights I wanted to include.  I made slightly different napkin rings, and also covered some crackers using All Is Calm Designer Scrapbook paper and some snowflakes and dies cut from the Snowflake card die.

I cant wait for it to be the 25th now so that we can sit round this table as a family and enjoy a great meal together. After I have finished my pre-order for the new Spring /Summer catalogue I think we might be eating beans on toast so it’s good to distract them with the pretties?

Stampin’ Up! UK CraftyHallett’s Desk Organiser

So I wanted a little organisation for my desk.  I kept loosing my note book and calculator.  Two very important things when you go to parties or card classes, and they just kept disappearing under a mountain of ink pads and stamp sets.  So it was time for a little organisation – and I came up with this

2014-11-30 12.00.36

Its perfect for what I needed.  A note book, pen, and calculator all safe in their own little folder.  And I thought how useful for other stampin’ up demos, so I cut 8 kits out with some instructions and gifted them to my  Stampin’ Up! Demo buddies when we got together last weekend.

If you would like the instructions to make this – click the link here ——> Instructions for Crafty Hallett Desk Tidy

If you make one please leave me a comment and let me know how you get on

Hope you are having a nice time and getting ready for Christmas.  Just a reminder the last order date for guaranteed Christmas Delivery is fast approaching – you have just 5 days left so please do get those last minute orders in.

It’s A Stampin’ Up! Crafty Hallett Christmas Week – Day 7

So here we are the last day of my week long Christmas extravaganza.  Thank you for visiting and without further ado we have this little card

2014-11-30 12.19.14

The stars were stamped with versamark and gold embossing powder using the Bright & Beautiful stamp set.  And the little gold glitter backed slot hides the mechanism for the Star to spin as you move the card from side to side.  I made this card at my last Card Class.  The ladies had fun sticking dimensional dots to their 2ps and getting their cards to slide.

Check back tomorrow for a special project I made for other demos to make at my crafty weekend away – photos and a downloadable tutorial for you to make your own too!

Take care

It’s A Stampin’ Up! Crafty Hallett Christmas Week – Day 6

Gosh its the weekend already!  Welcome to day 6 of my Christmas Week.  I am away this weekend having a weekend of crafty relaxation with some other Stampin up! demos, check back on Monday for my report of the weekends fun or check out my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/craftyhallett

So today I promised you packaging.  I made long thin boxes – for long thing things – out of the All Is Calm Designer Scrapbook paper.  Topped with some lush Lost Lagoon Ribbon, a bit of twine and a tag stamped with the letter press winter stamp set, decorated with a few rhinestones for a little extra glitz

Lets hope my gifts please the girls who will be getting them tomorrow 🙂

Tomorrow is the last day of my Christmas week, and I am going to show you a simple, sliding star traditional Christmas Card.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, I know I will 🙂

It’s A Stampin’ Up! Crafty Hallett Christmas Week – Day 5

So time now for a Big Purple One!  Well actually 3 big purple ones.

2014-11-30 12.02.35

I used Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum Card stock to make a box 3 inches square using the Box Maker Tool.  So quick and easy anyone can make perfect boxes with them.  A little silver ribbon to tie – just for decoration as the box has its own closure and the best bit for speed – no glue – it folds shut on itself and holds perfectly.

The tag is made with the Seasonally Scattered stamp on Whisper White with Perfect Plum, and i used the stars confetti punch to add a few stars to the tag – with silver glimmer paper behind.

And just as a reminder the last order date for Christmas delivery is fast approaching – you have a week – so if you want to order something dont delay. Click on the pictures to learn more about the products used.  Please pop back for tomorrow’s blog post when we will be looking at some pretty boxes decorated with the Letter Press Winter stamp set.
