Disney Stampin Up

Here I am with Cayleigh, Kim and Fiona enjoying our special night out at Disney Hollywood Studios – such fun

So there you go – apologies for the picture heavy post but I took nearly 400 photos in three days, and these are just a few.  it was back to the real world and the day job with a bump on Monday – and brrr its turned cold – not used to it after the lovely florida sunshine.

Being part of stampin up gives you access to exclusive events like this one and the chance to meet and make new friends with like-minded people from all over the world. (As well as a great discount and heaps of other benefits).  For me the friendships and the people you meet are the best bit – and if you haven’t joined up yet – what are you waiting for?

2015 Class Schedule

I hope you are all enjoying a nice relaxing time as we slide into the Christmas week.  I have everything ready apart from the food shopping and I am looking forward to spending time with family, friends and creating wonderful memories.

I have worked out a class schedule for the first 6 months of 2015, and hope that local blog readers will be able to attend.  The details are below

craft classes folkestone, craft classes hythe, craftyhallett

Coffee and a card is a new drop in event – come make a card whilst enjoying a great coffee in Hythe for just £5.  More details to follow in the new year.  My classes in Folkestone are £15 to attend, or free with a Stampin’ Up! Order.  We usually make 3-4 cards or projects over a 2 hour period in a relaxed small group in my home.

I do hope you enjoy the break over Christmas if you are getting one.  Spare a thought to those who have to work over the Christmas period x

Best wishes

Stampin’ Up! UK CraftyHallett’s Desk Organiser

So I wanted a little organisation for my desk.  I kept loosing my note book and calculator.  Two very important things when you go to parties or card classes, and they just kept disappearing under a mountain of ink pads and stamp sets.  So it was time for a little organisation – and I came up with this

2014-11-30 12.00.36

Its perfect for what I needed.  A note book, pen, and calculator all safe in their own little folder.  And I thought how useful for other stampin’ up demos, so I cut 8 kits out with some instructions and gifted them to my  Stampin’ Up! Demo buddies when we got together last weekend.

If you would like the instructions to make this – click the link here ——> Instructions for Crafty Hallett Desk Tidy

If you make one please leave me a comment and let me know how you get on

Hope you are having a nice time and getting ready for Christmas.  Just a reminder the last order date for guaranteed Christmas Delivery is fast approaching – you have just 5 days left so please do get those last minute orders in.

Lots of love

Boys Birthday Card from Crafty Hallett

Just a quick post to share with you a card I made last week for my Son’s 24th Birthday.

2014-11-12 22.19.28

I used a number of stamp sets for the card.  Starburst Sayings for the “Happy Day” and “You make the World a Better Place”, Sassy Salutations for the Happy Birthday Sentiment and the Larger Than Life Alphabet stamps to do the Number 24.

2014-11-12 22.18.082014-11-12 22.18.30 2014-11-12 22.18.15

The background paper is from the lightweight “Typeset” stack and I used the Stars Mask to sponge stars in Lost Lagoon ink to tie in with the ribbon on the card.  A little twine and a mini staple and I was done.

All the items used to make this card are available from my shop – clicky click the pictures below to be taken automagically to my shop.

Bokeh Technique from Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Caroline Hallett

I just love the big sentiments that are in the Bravo stamp set – but they are a bit of a challenge as they are so BIG.  They ideally just need to be on a pretty piece of DSP or a back ground all on their own.  Which is what led me to this technique – BOKEH.  I want to keep singing that song, you know Oh, the Okey Cokey – but as Oh the Okey Bokeh!

Bokey

Its a watercolour technique and you do need watercolour paper to get it to work.  The details are all in the video.  Only thing I can recommend on top is GIVE IT TIME TO DRY.  White craft ink takes an AGE to dry translucent.

Also after I had completed these cards, and you didnt see it on the video, I gave them a quick spritz with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch just for a little more SPARKLE

Please enjoy the video and making your own versions of these cards – they are so quick and easy and a little bit addictive.

Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Advent Calendar using Stampin’ Up! UK’s Nifty little Boxes

Stampin up have brought out a great set of little boxes and a stamp set to make this cool advent calendar.

2014-11-08 18.44.03

The boxes fold flat and need no glue to keep them closed.  The box is a 2 inch cube so perfect for your own chocolates or perhaps a poem or a riddle?  I punched the circles out from Pear Pizazz and Soft Sky cardstock and then stamped them using the 25 Days Stamp set.  Such a versatile set that is not just for christmas advent calendars – oh no this is the set that just keeps on giving.  How about using this set for

Thank you gifts, first day of school photos, birthday cards, border & backgrounds, labels, graduation cards, party favours, 25 reasons why you love your other half, anniversary cards and gifts, countdowns to a wedding, list of your favourite things, project life and scrapbooking, check lists, banners, clue for a treasure hunts and so much more…

The boxes are just £6.25 for 25 – click on the pictures below to buy them automagically from my shop.  Such good value even if you didnt want to make an advent calendar with them, perhaps gifts for the table on christmas day, or just little treat boxes.

Come back tomorrow to see the “alternative” advent calendar I have made using the same stamp set but some different ideas for boxes.

“Frozen” style keepsake curvy boxes from Stampin Up UK

IMG_0057-0.JPG

I just love the new curvy keepsake die from Stampin Up – I have been using it this week to make pumpkin boxes and also inspired by Paula from my extended family of Stampin up demonstrators I have made this stepped up frozen version.

Using pool party, island indigo and lost lagoon inks I sprayed a die cut from the Silver glimmer paper, I added a little touch of white craft ink to “frost” up the blue and then the tag is made using the Letterpress Winter stamp set.

The ribbon is coloured using blend abilities and then scrunched up when wet to dry crinkly

Don’t forget you can buy all the things you need to make these boxes from my shop – click the link at the top right of this page

Hope you have a good week – pop back during the week to see the advent calendar I have made 🙂 Thanks for visiting

Oh and here’s the pumpkin ones – the kids loved them

Wedding Card & Gift Box using Project Life Kit from Stampin’ Up! UK

2014-10-26 09.46.43

Today I am sharing with you a card and envelope I made for my friend’s wedding.  Their colour theme was deepest purple so I was able to use as a colour match Rich Razzleberry.  I used the cards from the Love Story Project Life Kit to create a bunting string with pictures of the happy couple, a shaker heart with star confetti and an envelope containing the gift (cash) we had for them.  I have shared some photographs below so you can see each part of it.

The project life cards are perfect for this project – and a few stamps from Big News and other sets completed the look!

I hope the bride and groom liked it.  We had a lovely day with them.  Here’s me and the man getting in the mood ourselves

2014-10-25 12.42.15

Hope you have all had a great weekend.  Click on the pictures below of the products I used in this card to be taken automagically to the shop if there’s anything there that takes your fancy.

Have a great week!

Stampin’ Up European Convention – Craftyhallett Day 2

So welcome to the first full day of convention!  This morning we will be hearing from Shelli Gardner – the founder of Stampin Up, and getting some tips and ideas on how to run our business and share what we love. The second session of the morning is a session called “Inspire – Create – Share” – The Workshop.  And this is where the big secret comes out.  Way back in August I was called out of the blue by Stampin Up USA office to ask if I would like to partner with them on a “mocked up stampin up workshop/party”.  Once hubby picked me up off the floor, and they had reassured me that it wasn’t a wind up, I told them  I would be delighted to!  Since then I have had a number of emails, conference calls and live Skype presentations and the privilege of working with a load of great people from the SU Office putting together something fun and hopefully inspirational (eek!) for my fellow convention delegates. So this morning, at 11am I will be “pretending” to demonstrate a workshop that has been hosted by the International Business Director for Stampin up – Natalie White.  As this is a scheduled post I cant tell you how it will go – lets hope my brain doesn’t get an idea and my mouth just decides to run with it! (Stole that phrase from one of my teamies – Sandra – but its very apt for the moment).  To say I am nervous is an understatement.. even my nerves are nervous… I will be demonstrating how to use the gift box maker – and here’s a sneaky peek picture of the finished article – If you would like a copy of the instructions on how to make and decorate the box please download them here. The rest of the afternoon will either involve me shaking quietly in a corner somewhere or looking forward to the Awards Ceremony in the evening.  I am not getting an award myself, but I will be cheering loudly all the Pinkies in my extended upline and side lines who have – and there are a lot of them, so I am expecting to be quite horse on Saturday!  Come back tomorrow for some more pictures/event details (depending upon my internet access at the hotel!) Magic Slider Cards

Hi all

I saw one of these magic slider cards on a facebook group and knew I wanted to make one of my own.  Unfortunately the picture didnt have a tutorial or measurements with it, so I did a bit of googling and found something similar, and then ended up making my own up anyway!

Magic

The card base used is Melon Mambo – cut at 5 inches x 6 1/4 inches – scored at 3 and 6 inches on the longer side.  On the first flap I punched out a 2 inch wide circle using my circles framelits.  the tag is cut using whisper white which I then stamped on the flower from the so very grateful set in stayzon.  Its coloured in with Melon Mambo inks and Old Olive.  You also stamp another version in stayzon on acetate window sheets – these are then tied together, and inserted into the magic pocket – made from a piece of whisper white glued just on the long sides et voila – One side of the tag (the acetate sits on top of the pocket and the coloured in tag sits underneath.

I found these instructions helpful to get the general idea from http://juliedavison.blogspot.co.uk/2009/10/magic-card-tutorial.html

The sentiment is also from the same stamp set – and SHOCK HORROR – it is NO LONGER available after 1st July so if you want it – clickitty click click the link below and order it before it disappears.

Hope you find this useful and are enjoying your weekend.  Pop back later in the week for another tutorial – this time on FAUX leather notebooks using the lovely Ex-Libris stamp set…

Perfect Pennants & Petite Petals Gift Bags

2014-05-10 17.43.37This little gift bag is a protype for a bag I am making for my day job.  The charities is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and in June we have our anniversary Ball.  I have about 200 bags to make – like this but in Gold with our logo on them and a black bow.  I shall be making them with the help of some crafty colleagues and hope to blog about that later.

The bag is made using the free DSP from Saleabration – its such a lovely print I hope they use it again somehwere.  The whisper white cardstock tag is made with the scallop top tag punch and the sentiment is from the perfect pennants set, stamped in Night of Navy.  I punched the flowers out of night of navy card stock using the petite petal punch, a few diamonds, a little silver glimmer paper and some satin ribbon and we are good to go!

Sending good thoughts your way too.. I am on the count down to Telford – the one a year meeting of around 350 UK Stampin’ Up! demonstrators – swapping crafty ideas, tips and swaps.. Check back in the week for my swaps and name badge post – and then after the event for some fun round ups of what we got up to!

Card with A Clasp Peaceful Petals & Morning Meadow

When I saw this card from Brandy  I knew I wanted to have a go.

I didnt have the same stamp sets, but it was easy to switch them out with Peaceful Petals and Morning Meadow.

I used Wisteria wonder and Soft Suede as my card & ink colours – I love the way its turned out and it was so quick and easy to make.  Watch the video to see – although warning – there are spoilers there about the new catalogue – the US get their new catalogue a whole month before us – so lovelies in Europe you will have to wait till 1st July to see the card she is referring to!

Envelope Punch Board – Any Size – Free Spreadsheet

For the punchboard

I have made a spreadsheet in Excel which allows you to make any envelope in any size and any depth.

Here is the spreadsheet –magic numbers old style please feel free to  download it and save it to your computer.

IMPORTANT UPDATE – if you are making perfect square envelopes you will need to use the lower line of the calculator – the one called Deep Envelope – enter the same numbers for length and height and set the depth to Zero.  For some reason the upper one is giving a false reading and I cant work out why!  THANKS

Here is a little video showing how to make the deeper envelopes if you don’t know how to.

Thanks – and please let me know if you find it useful.
