Done with Mothers Day Cards now

Here are just a few of my mothers day cards that I have made – wanted to put them up so people could see them.

This one was for a little girl who calls her grandma Mimi – she wanted something very pink and girlie – this is an adaptation of a card I saw on my Pinterest – original post is here http://www.amazingpapergrace.com/your-friendship/ its a lovely card (I like it in white, but the request is pink… so pink it is), with a few other adaptations…

The others are more general mothers day cards for various people

This one is one of my boxes that 3 sisters and a brother requested as a joint “card” for their mum – each has a tag to write on

Thats all for now folks – very busy with a large wedding invite order… so no more updates for a while!

Mini canvas

Made a fun mini canvas wall hanging at pickleberry yesterday – really fun

Dan’s Valentines Day Present

Been a bit crazy recently making things, had no time to update my blog, let alone take part in any challenges.  Resolved to blog this on the Ipad last night and link up this morning :-)

I have had such fun making these pop up boxes, will put some pictures on another post of the ones I have made.  There are quite a few of them now!

This one I made with a tim holtz die dress form, I got a little bit of inspiration for the form with a heart from this post http://theartisticstampercreativeteam.blogspot.com/2012/02/shot-through-heart-by-emma.html which I thought was just beautiful.

The sides were inked up with Distress ink, and stamped using the free stamp from February’s craft stamper magazine.  I also stamped the heart on to shrink plastic, coloured them red with alcohol ink and then shrunk em, to make the little boppy hearts on acetate that spring out when you open the box.  I used a little perfect pearls golden to bring up the hearts.

Outside of the Box…. lift the lid…..

... and out pop out 10 hearts, and the dress form

and heres a close up of the stamps used

Butterfly boxes m

I have been obsessed with these boxes since I first saw them in the craft stamper magazine this month – such a fun idea. Googling took me to the most amazing blog http://www.magic-boxes.com/ – where the artist has created some amazing work.

This is my first (well 3rd) attempt at something like this – the first two are embargoed as they are for presents for people on Facebook/blogs. This is for my mum who views the Internet with an element of distrust so I am safe putting it here before her birthday in March.

Everything started life on this box as either white or black card. The butterflies are stamped, embossed and then coloured, mica and black ultra fine glitter. The acetate used to make the butterflies float is from a coke bottle as normal acetate was not strong enough.

The panels are inked with distress inks, stamped and then a little more mica to make them shimmer and catch the light – it was fun to make and also a learning curve.
